continuity task

Before attempting our thriller we studied the importance of continuity within a film so the audeicne understand and follow the film better. In our group we had two goes at our continuity taks because the frist was way off the required piece.
Attempt one:
Strengths: There were some strengths in our first attempt at the preliminary task. These included the fact that we used a wider and vsired range of camera angles. We uses these to create different effects, we used the match-on-action shot technique as Ryan walked through the door. We did this so that the viewer feels their entering the room with him. We used a long-shot also with this so the audience can see the type of surrounding their in. We used the reverse shot as Joe and Ryan were talking so that the audience can focus on Ryan’s character and see how uncomfortable he is in the situation. The 180 degree rule was also used whilst dialogue was happening because we felt this kept Joe’s identity hidden yet made the audience curious as to who he is, much like the film ‘pulp fiction.’ We wanted to create the want for an audience to see his full face, another reason why we used extreme close up is because we see Joe’s lips and eyes but yearn to see the whole face but don’t. Other strengths include that we had a good naturalistic acting and quite good lighting. We also tried our best to ensure consistency yet we failed in some shots, for example in one shot the outside lighting would be on but the next it is off.
Weaknesses: Our main weakness was our sound, our original idea was to record all dialogue separately, then silence the sound on the recording and dub over it. This being because the only sound you would hear would be footsteps and voices and this would create a more eerie feel but this proved to difficult and not appropriate for the time given to do the task. So in some scenes there was continuity because there would be a lot of background noise, then in the next none.
Outcome: I was not pleased with the outcome of our video because of the reasons of audio and continuity, therefore I believe we need to re-film and edit our entire project again to meet the standards required.
Targets: Re-film and edit video so group is happy with it.

Our first projectsadly got deleted before we could make a ahrd copy version of it because beliving we wouldn't need it when we made our new one, we didnt make one instantly.
