Strengths and weaknesses of our continuity task

Attempt two
Strengths: In our second attempt we made a great improvement on our video. Our audio became one of our strengths because we chose a more quite place so there was not much background noise at all and the dialogue could be heard clearly. Our camera angles stayed another strong point of our groups, but we made a few changes, We showed Joe’s face this time because we thought it was more suited to our new location. We used the 180 degree rule as Joe and Ryan were speaking to each other because it worked well as Ryan said one thing there was a slight pause and as the camera reached Joe he answered making it look like the camera was showing the fluent conversation between the two. The match-on-action shot we kept so it looked like a point of view shot. As Joe spoke to Ryan we had the camera on Ryan’s shoulder so it looked like Joe was also speaking to the audience, making the audience feel more connected with the piece. The reverse shot we kept as Ryan coming through the door for the same reason, the audience feel like their entering to. We showed Ryan crossing the room on the way in from a corner shot and on the way out we got a birds eye view of him leaving which gave a great look. Also in this attempt our continuity improved vastly.
Weaknesses: There were two weaknesses I would change if we were to do this project again. Our project towards the end became more comedy than serious so this dramatic change in genre can put some audiences off and ruin the piece for them because just as they were following the story line and anticipating the next shot the whole piece changes and some audiences may loose interest. There is one continuity problem, on one scene Ryan is holding a purse and one another scene he is not.
Outcome: I was very pleased with the outcome of the second piece, I thought it fulfilled the task and filled every aspect that was asked of us.
Targets: Possibly re-film the shots that ruined the continuity, and re-film the last shots as a serious piece.
